In this contribution we present a modelling and characterization approach for integrated silicon waveguides. We provide waveguide characteristics calculated from eigenmode simulation and optical measurement results.

We report the performance of a compact model for the effective index of SOI wire waveguides, showing exceptional agreement with simulated effective index and confinement factors.
